Mezze are small Lebanese dishes served together and shared at the table: dips like hummus and moutabal, salads like tabbouli, and bites like falafel and stuffed grape leaves. You order a few, put them in the middle and eat with bread. Many of the classic mezze are naturally plant-based, and at Falafoliva every one of them is vegan.
The dishes, one by one
- Hummus, €8: chickpea purée with tahini, lemon and olive oil. The name simply means "chickpeas" in Arabic.
- Hummus & falafel, €10: the same hummus, topped with our falafel.
- Moutabal, €9: smoky eggplant purée with tahini and olive oil. Not sure how it differs from baba ghanouj? Read this.
- Tabbouli, €8: tomatoes, parsley, bulgur, onion and mint leaves with a lemon and olive oil dressing. In Lebanon, tabbouli is mostly parsley, with only a little bulgur.
- Stuffed grape leaves, €6: grape leaves filled with tomatoes and short-grain rice, dressed in olive oil.
- Wild fries, €4: crispy fries topped with thyme.

€37Tips for a good mezze
- Mix textures: one creamy dip, one fresh salad, one crispy bite.
- Order a little less than you think, then add more. That is how mezze is eaten in Lebanon.
- Wraps work as mezze too: cut one in half and share it.
